The art of shamisen performance is not merely for the enjoyment of sound.
It is, in itself, a living cultural tradition—one that has been passed down through generations, carrying with it a deep history, refined aesthetic sensibilities, and the rhythms of human life.
Tokiwazu Saiou, a practitioner of the Tokiwazu school that has continued since the Edo period, seeks to honor this essence while opening it to resonate with contemporary sensibilities.
Through cultural exchange, tourism, and immersive experiences of Japanese atmosphere, the aim is to present moments that can only be appreciated in our present time—harmonizing tradition with the living world of today.
Tradition is not something that endures simply by preservation;

With this in mind, curated experiential programs are created—

Within the classical art of the shamisen lies a beauty and structure of expression that has been refined over the course of many years.
It represents an essential value—one that remains unwavering, even as times change.
At the same time, to bring this beauty to people today,
it is necessary to offer points of entry and modes of experience that are attuned to the present age.
To preserve tradition, and to open it—
both are held in equal regard.
In doing so, spaces are created where
“accessible enjoyment for first-time audiences”
and
“authentic encounters with true artistic value”
can coexist in a natural and harmonious way.

季節と物語を味わう演奏会
― 桜と怪談、二つの世界を巡るひととき ―
春をテーマにした演奏会では、
桜の優美な世界と、怪談の妖しい世界を、
三味線の弾き語りで表現する二部構成の演奏会を開催しました。
文化や風土による表現の違いを音で感じる時間と、
語りと音で異世界へと誘う時間。
一見対照的な二つの世界を通して、
三味線の持つ表現の奥行きと幅を体感いただけます。
初めてでも楽しめる、解説付き邦楽演奏会
― わかることで深まる、日本の音 ―
三味線・義太夫・長唄・琵琶など、
さまざまな古典邦楽を、解説とともに楽しめる演奏会です。
曲の背景や聴きどころを知ることで、
音の意味や情景が立ち上がり、
より深く楽しめる体験へとつながります。
初めての方にも開かれた入り口でありながら、
本格的な古典の魅力にも触れていただける構成です。
江戸の風情を体感する屋形船イベント
― 遊びの中に息づく、日本文化 ―
屋形船でのクルーズに、食事やお座敷遊び、
三味線と書のライブパフォーマンスを組み合わせた体験型企画です。
一見すると“遊び”のようでありながら、
その中には江戸の文化や美意識が息づいています。
楽しみながら自然と文化に触れることができる、
五感で味わう企画です。
まずは、楽しいと思っていただくこと。
